Job Description
We are seeking a visionary Senior 2D Game Developer to join our elite team at Nebula Interactive. You will be responsible for architecting and implementing stunning 2D gameplay mechanics and visual effects for our next generation of mobile and indie titles. In this role, you will bridge the gap between artistic vision and technical execution, working closely with our art directors and lead designers to deliver high-performance, low-latency 2D experiences.
Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality 2D games using Unity 2D or Godot Engine, ensuring smooth 60fps performance across devices.
- Collaborate with art teams to implement 2D sprites, animations, and visual effects (VFX) seamlessly into the game engine.
- Optimize rendering pipelines and memory usage to ensure the game runs efficiently on mid-range to high-end mobile hardware.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented C# or GDScript code, including reusable component libraries.
- Troubleshoot and debug complex 2D physics and collision detection issues within game worlds.
- Participate in agile game design sprints, providing technical feasibility assessments for new features.
- Maintain and upgrade existing 2D game titles to ensure compatibility with the latest operating systems.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in 2D Game Development, specifically with Unity 2D or Godot.
- Strong proficiency in C# (Unity) or GDScript (Godot).
- Deep understanding of 2D game loops, state machines, and entity-component systems.
- Experience with 2D animation tools such as Spine, DragonBones, or Unity Animator.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on performance optimization and memory management.
- Experience integrating 2D assets (sprites, textures) and optimizing image formats (PNG, ETC2, ASTC).
- Portfolio showcasing completed 2D games or significant 2D modules is required.
