Responsibilities
- Database Design & Architecture: Design, develop, and optimize complex database schemas and stored procedures to support high-volume transaction processing.
- Query Optimization: Analyze and tune SQL queries to improve performance, reduce latency, and ensure scalability under heavy load.
- Data Migration & Integration: Lead ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, ensuring seamless data migration between legacy systems and modern cloud architectures.
- Code Review & Mentorship: Conduct thorough code reviews and mentor junior developers, fostering a culture of best practices and technical excellence.
- Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain security protocols to protect sensitive data, ensuring adherence to GDPR and HIPAA regulations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and backend engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in SQL development, database administration, or data engineering.
- T-SQL/SQL: Expert-level proficiency in SQL (T-SQL, PL/SQL, or PL/pgSQL) with a proven track record of writing complex queries and scripts.
- Database Systems: Strong experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL in a production environment.
- Programming: Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for data manipulation.
- Cloud Knowledge: Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or Google Cloud SQL) is a significant plus.
- Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database performance issues.
